Annie Junior Camp Info

 ABOUT THE CAMP …

This is going to be a week long camp that ends with three performances — the location is TBA.

This camp is going to be taught by award winning high schoolers with years of theatre & dance experience. They will be taking the lead in teaching the campers the blocking, dancing and singing as well as designing the show behind the scenes. Each high schooler will be advised by an adult to offer advice, as needed.

The camp will run from Sunday, June 25 to Saturday, July 1st.

Sunday to Thursday will be rehearsals, which will be broken up in two levels:

For students going into grades 1st-3rd, they are the Rising Star campers and will rehearse from 10am-2pm - the fee will be $50 for the week. Click here to sign up a rising star (auditions open April 1st)
(If you are signing up a rising star, but are unable to pick up your camper at 2pm, you may also register them for the afternoon session stage crew from 2pm-5pm for $25.)

For students going into grades 4th-8th, they are the Junior Players campers and will rehearse from 10am-5pmthe fee will be $100 for the week. Click here to sign up a junior player (registration opens April 1st)

At the end of the week, all the campers will perform three fully staged public performances:

Friday at 7pm (Red Cast)
Saturday @ 2pm (White Cast)
Saturday @ 7pm (Red Cast)

There will be two casts of Annie Junior, which will rehearse simultaneously.

ABOUT THE AUDITIONS …

Because of the quick rehearsal process, the show will be fully cast before June 25th.

Starting April 1st - April 30th, we will accept video audition submissions — each camper will be required to send in a video singing and reading a side from Annie Jr. Please visit our audition page to read through the roles available for the age of your camper(s). Each role has the breakdown, a couple of pages of the script and a song and the number of lines each role has — take this into consideration before picking the role to audition for. Please memorize the lines and a part of the song. If the role your camper is auditioning for doesn’t sing a solo, the only requirement is the acting portion of the audition.

The cast will be announced by early May — at this point, every camper will receive an email with the script and all the songs, along with more information on how the camp will run and all the junior staff and staff. Because of the quick rehearsal process during camp week, we ask that all campers come to camp on June 25th already OFF-BOOK (knowing all their lines and songs) to allow for a smooth rehearsal process camp week. This will help take the pressure off the campers from having to memorize their lines and songs while also learning the dances and blocking in rehearsals.

Please note: if you send in your audition tape after April 30th, your child will not be considered for a leading role, but we will add you to the ensemble of your age group.

BEFORE YOU AUDITION …

Because of the very quick rehearsal process, if you accept a role in Annie Junior, every rehearsal is MANDATORY.

If you have ANY conflicts during the week of June 25th-July 1st, we won’t be able to cast you in a lead role. If your conflict is minor, you could potentially still be considered for the ensemble. There will be no exceptions to this. Thank you for understanding.

Please understand the time commitment we are expecting of you and your child BEFORE you send in the audition video.

ABOUT THE SHOW …

Based on the popular comic strip and adapted from the Tony Award-winning Best Musical, with a beloved book and score by Tony Award winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, Annie JR. features everyone’s favorite little redhead in her very first adventure.

With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone's hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. Annie is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. Annie eventually foils Miss Hannigan's evil machinations, finding a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.
